Science is a core curriculum subject and is planned to ensure effective coverage of the National Curriculum programme of study throughout both key stages.  At each key stage the children are involved in practical science activities to enable them to develop the skills of scientific investigation.  This includes visits outside school and the use of the school grounds.  The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) Scheme of work supports some of our topic based approach to science.
