Hello and welcome to our Year 1/2 class page!

Miss Hardwick is the class teacher, with Mrs Alyas supporting the class each day, and Mrs Leary supporting in an afternoon. Mrs Knowles teaches the class PE, computing and music on a Monday afternoon to cover Miss Hardwick’s PPA.

Homework is given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday for marking and to prepare new homework. Spellings for each year group will also be given out on a Friday, to practice for the following week. These will be stuck in the children’s homework books and can be practised in these books too. Children have also got log-ins for Times Tables Rock Stars in their books.

Our class PE days our Monday (outdoors) and Tuesday (indoors). Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on these days.

PE kit is:

·         Plain black or bottle green jumper

·         Plain black or bottle green jogging bottoms

·         Plain black/bottle green PE shorts/cycling shorts (mid-thigh)

·         Plain white PE t-shirt (optional logo)

Please try to make sure you read daily at home! Children will be able to choose a reading for pleasure book from our class library to take home on a Friday with their homework. Please return these each week, to allow your child to choose a new book.

We have had a fantastic start to the year so far, and we are very impressed by how hard the children have been working! We have explored our writing text ‘Lost and Found’ and have seen some brilliant simple sentences that the children have written. We have also seen some amazing artwork, as well as learning that the children are great at playing the recorders! We are very excited for the year ahead and getting to see what else the children can do!
