Welcome to our Y5/6 class page.

Mrs Verdon-Smith is the Year 5/6 Class Teacher with Mrs Hudson supporting on Mondays and Tuesdays and Mrs Beahan supporting on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs. Knowles teach the class to cover PPA (usually on Thursday afternoon). 

Homework (including spellings) will be given out on a Thursday and should be returned on a Wednesday for marking. Those children who return their completed homework on Wednesdays will receive a Raffle Ticket. Spellings will be tested on Thursday and marked with a spelling score. Spellings can be practised in homework books. Times Table Rock Stars will also be used to set homework tasks throughout the year. It is expected that all children will spend 10 minutes 4 times a week practising their times tables. 

PE days are Thursdays (inside) and Fridays (outdoor weather permitting), so please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their PE on these days. 

Year 5/6 have had a wonderful start to the year, they have all come back from the Summer holiday with maturing attitudes towards their learning and I am sure we are going to have a wonderful year.  

In our first few weeks of school we have been very busy and we are very excited about our book 'Boy in Striped Pyjamas' - the children have concentrated on sentence structure and written some amazing character descriptions, with a letter to Grandma from Bruno currently being created. We look forward to what is yet to come!
