Our Curriculum Vision

We believe that the purpose of education is to bring about goodness: human flourishing.  We believe that to do this, our curriculum should be broad and balanced; it should build knowledge, encourage independence, curiosity and creativity; produce collaborators, innovators, leaders and, above all, it should help our children to understand what it means to be human.

We aim for our curriculum to be inclusive with a strong message that every child is unique. Our aim is for each child to see themselves in the curriculum, whilst making their learning a personal, distinctive journey.

We promote the needs of all our learners, challenging them, encouraging and supporting them to problem solve, enquire, interpret and communicate their ideas.

We want our children be able to be enthusiastic learners, who retain and transfer their learning, with broad knowledge and skills for life.

We also want our children to be fluent and knowledgeable readers, as we believe that reading and rich vocabulary are the gateway to all learning.

Subject Long Term Plans

Each subject long term plan details the key invaluable knowledge and vocabulary taught in each year group, to enable us to provide a knowledge-rich curriculum, where skills are the by-product of the knowledge taught. Some curriculum areas follow a carefully selected scheme, which is also detailed in each document. There is a clear rationale behind the reason each scheme has been chosen. In addition, curriculum lessons are also enhanced with carefully matched and purposeful resources, which meet the individual needs of all our learners.

Beyond the classroom…

We believe that a broad and balanced curriculum extends beyond the classroom. We tailor and adapt our curriculum to meet the needs of our community, and in doing so, provide a wealth of experiences throughout their time at school.
