Class Dojo Parental Agreement 

Class Dojo – Families & School user Agreement / Guidelines

Class Dojo is for users to communicate between school and home positively, sharing messages and pictures to enable parents / carers to engage with children’s time in school.

This user agreement is to outline expectations for the use of Class Dojo for all members of St Patrick’s Catholic Voluntary Academy. It outlines the expectations of families in regard to data protection and the expectations of school staff with respect to amount and content in communication.

When you sign up to Class Dojo for your child using your individual code provided by the school, you are agreeing to follow these terms. If abused, the Headteacher reserves the right to remove people from pages associated with the school until any misuse has been investigated or remove certain permissions, such as the chat feature on the app if it isn’t used in the correct way. 

All users will not share any photos on social media unless permission is sought. By signing up to use Class Dojo at St Patrick’s, you are agreeing not to share the images sent in any way, for example, on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

School Staff (Individual, class and school story pages)

• Class pages will be used to update families on essential information and for sharing photos/videos of children’s learning and experiences – there is an expectation that a minimum of 2 updates per week for each class. 
• The Headteacher, senior leaders (SLT) and admin staff will manage the School Story with messages for all parents, events or initiatives.
• School staff will check or send messages between 8.30–4.00pm when suitable, during the school day. News and photos may be sent later, but there is no expectation of class staff to respond to messages outside these hours. 
• Teachers will manage individual class stories and share relevant information with the whole class group.
• As a school, we use dojo points as a reward system. All staff will use dojo points as a form of positive praise for our pupils and a clear reason as to why they have earned it. 

Parents / carers

• Only family members / adults with parental responsibility will be issued an access code to a child’s class dojo account. Exceptional circumstances will be discussed with the Headteacher and a decision made on an individual basis. 
• Families will agree not to share access codes with extended family or friends, any other accounts will be removed (this is due to GDPR regulations).
• Observe the contact hours for staff and continue to contact school in the usual way for medical needs, information you need to share with the office or require from the office, SEND information etc.
• Telephone school with absences and any appointments, holiday requests etc as normal – do not use Class Dojo for this.
• Will comment appropriately and positively on posts shared on Class Dojo. Anything deemed as inappropriate will be deleted and may result in removal from Class Dojo. Please speak to your child’s class teacher or a member of SLT if you have any concerns or questions. Class dojo posts are not the place for this. 

Pupils will not have their own individual access to Class Dojo

The school may remove any member of the school community from the application temporarily or permanently if the site is used inappropriately by family members or unprofessionally by staff.

Guidelines on frequency of messages – t manage expectations of families regarding receiving messages and responses from school & appropriate workload expectations of teachers –

• We will contact regularly - this will vary from week to week, day to day and class to class. Please do not compare classes, individual staff members – each class will be different. If you are concerned about a lack of information, contact the Headteacher directly.
• Teachers will monitor messages and respond at an appropriate time they are able to during the school day – staff will not respond to messages during learning time – as they are busy supporting the children.
