Geography

Geography Intent
What makes a Saint Patrick’s Geographer?

At Saint Patrick's Catholic Voluntary Academy, we aspire to help children develop as Geographer through a range of learning experiences that are underpinned by our key intentions for learning this subject:

  1. It is our intention that all children will develop a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people.

2. It is our intention to provide a high quality geography education where children will gain a well-rounded knowledge of the ways in which places are interdependent and interconnected. They will develop their understanding of how much human and physical environments are interrelated.

3. It is our intention to use a highly developed and frequently utilised fieldwork and other geographical and techniques.

4. It is our intention that children develop a progressive geography vocabulary where they are equipped to become increasingly critical and analytical thinkers. They are able to discuss the impacted on their own lives and how they live.

5. It is our intention to help children to express well-balanced opinions, rooted in very good knowledge and understanding about current and contemporary issues in society and the environment. Children will continue to develop an extensive base of geographical knowledge and vocabulary.
