Welcome to Owl's class page on our school website.
Our topic this term is 'All Creatures Great and Small'
Our big question is "Who deserves a place on The Ark?"
We will be learning all about different kinds of animals from Artic animals to Safari animals. We will be exploring all about their different habitats and what they need to survive. We will compare the different kinds of animals we look at.
We will look at fiction and non-fiction books and explore how these books are different. We will be focusing on rhyming words and we will try and spot them in our books. We will be practicing writing our names and thinking about what sounds we can hear in them. We will learn lots and lots of nursery rhymes.
We will practice our counting and have ago at writing out numbers. We shall also explore 2D shapes and will try and make patterns with them.
Here are some of the topic books we will be looking at:
In phonics we will be continuing to develop our listening skills and concentration skills through focus teaching. We will be listening for the letter sounds (the phonemes) in our names and other words.
Personal, Social and Emotional learning will see us discuss our emotions and identify different facial expression.
The outside area is being improved by the addition of lots of 'Loose Parts' to help children develop their physical, social and 'higher' thinking skills. We go outside in all weathers as this helps children's well being and general health.
Our library day is on Friday. Our children will be able to choose a library book and take it home to share with their family.
We will be doing lots of learning through play which gives children time to practice what they are learning.
We can't wait to see the learning that takes place this half term!
