Owls

Welcome to Owls' class page on our school website.

Our  topic this term will be 'Roots, Shoots, Buckets and Boots'

Our big question is "Do you need roots to grow?"

We will be learning all about growing . We shall be looking closely at plants . We will explore what plants need to grow? We shall discuss whether we need roots to grow.  We shall be doing lots of counting and looking at the value of numbers. We shall use one to one counting skills to count seeds and add two numbers together. We will use our number skills to measure our plants and compare sizes.

We will use key books to extend our knowledge and thinking skills.

In phonics we will be continuing to develop our listening skills and concentration skills through focus teaching. We will be listening for the letter sounds( the phonemes) in our names and other words.

We will learn lots and lots of nursery rhymes and will come home singing each new song we learn each week.

Personal, Social and Emotional learning will see us discuss our emotions and identify different facial expression and welcome our friends back to school.

The outside area is being improved by the addition of lots of 'Loose Parts' to help children develop their physical, social and 'higher' thinking skills. We go outside in all weathers as this helps children's well being and general health.

Our library day is on Friday's where children are able to choose a library book and take it home to share.

Learning through play gives children time to practice what they are learning.
